Award-winning actress Jennifer Jonassen was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY where she has played many roles Off, Off-Off and Way-The-Hell-Off Broadway. She has moved to the west coast where she is working steadily on the indie scene.
Jennifer is the Entertainment & Arts Editor for Plus Model Magazine where she chronicles her experiences as a larger actress trying to make it in Hollywood. In addition Jennifer can usually be caught dancing & clowning around Los Angeles with RAID dance & Crazy Danks Marching Band. Offstage, Jennifer has worked as a director, playwright, dramaturg, and teacher in many productions ranging from musicals to classical theater. She co-authored a revolutionary play called Girlie Show which has been given productions in NYC, CT and is soon to be performed in CA!
Some of her favorite roles have included: Alma in Summer& Smoke, The Herald in Marat/Sade, B in Sarah Kane's Crave and Hecate in Macbeth. She won multiple awards for her role as Beatrice Hunsdorfer in the critically acclaimed production of The Effects of Gamma Rays On Man In The Moon Marigolds including the prestigious 2005 San Diego Playbill "Billie" award for Outstanding Lead Actress in A Drama.
On the administrative side of the arts - she worked for years at the Lucille Lortel Theater where she had the honor of assisting Uta Hagen during her run of Collected Stories. Jennifer dreams of one day running a theater dedicated to producing the works of Tennessee Williams. Well that, or running away with Cirque du Soleil.
